Newspeak in the 21st century
So why the hell would I mention a fictional language you might be wondering. It's pretty damn simple. Granted, if you've never read "1984" you couldn't have noticed that kinetic military action isn't an Orwellian Newspeak phrase. It was first used by Ben Rhodes, a White House aide, on March 23, 2011. He used it when he was describing the U.S. war in Libya. Yes, that's precisely what it's a euphemism for, lethal force. These were his precise words:
I think what we are doing is enforcing a resolution that has a very clear set of goals, which is protecting the Libyan people, averting a humanitarian crisis, and setting up a no-fly zone... Obviously that involves kinetic military action, particularly on the front end.
The instance described above isn't the only time a government official used it to mean war. On February 11, 2015 Obama asked Congress to
authorize the use of U.S. forces [against ISIL] in ... [ground] missions to enable kinetic strikesUmm, wait. What are kinetic strikes? Yes, they're fucking bombs and missiles. But that would be too aggressive-sounding eh? Oh shit. Better keep this quiet, this is a Thoughtcrime. The Thought Police (aka government, parents, classmates, teachers, churches and other forms of authority) are in charge of keeping you in check. They make sure you use the "right" words that are politically correct.
Soon, as Orwell predicted, a lot of words will be phased out, replaced by Newspeak. It's happening today and will continue to happen if we aren't conscious of it. Imagine the headlines in the future. Instead of, "A policeman brutally assaulted a handicapped man," you'll see, "A Goodpol [good policeman] kinetically adjusted a minusleg Prole [working class citizen]" Don't worry, the minusleg Prole was given a goodtrip to joycamp [forced labor camp]. Speak up for unGod's sake! Do our society a double plus good favor and stick with Oldspeak and Oldthink, otherwise we'll soon all be unPersons.
Peace love and unBubble gum!
Please watch this clip, and just imagine at the end Obama saying, "Big Brother loves you."
Another extremely entertaining clip. This is satire of course.
Give this book a read when you have a chance!
